TREBI KUMA OLLENNU FOUNDATION FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let
them enjoy abundant peace and security.” Jeremiah 33:6
A development partner of La Mansaamo Kpee in Ghana, Flora Trebi-Ollennu, in 1998, organised a 40-foot shipment of medical equipment and pharmaceutical supplies worth over $100,000 to assist in the running of the La Mansaamo Kpee newly completed La Maternal and Child Health Center, in Ghana. Ken Davis, the president of the Canadian Foundation for World Development, was instrumental in securing donations of medical supplies to meet this request with Emmanuel Pobee of Toronto as the liaison.
In 2000, Kpopkai Development Association was founded to continue these development efforts. Later, the name of the organisation was changed to La Mansaamo Kpee International. Years on, to better reflect the scope of development efforts and our mission, a new organisation was registered in 2012: the Trebi Kuma Ollennu Foundation for Community Development. TKOFCD’s perspective is cultural competency – teaming up with local organisations and community governments to nurture positive attitudes, awareness, and responsibility to what good health is worth among struggling segments of urban slum dwellers and rural communities.
SANITATION PROJECT IN GHANA
In 2019 TKOFCD tabled a sanitation proposal at the Ministry of Sanitation in Ghana: Sanitation by the People, with the People, and for the People - A Revolutionary Approach.
TKOFCD is partnering with Engineers Without Borders Canada and a local organisation, Development Compliments, to roll out a pilot.
MATERNAL & CHILD SPECIALTY HOSPITAL
In 2011, a partnership was formed with Engineering Ministries Canada to upgrade the design of the Maternal and Child Health center as a specialty hospital that can undertake medical procedures for mothers and children needing specialized medical attention. All that stands between TKOFCD’s completion of the Maternal and Child Specialty Center is your kind participation through your donations.
Culturally Competent Leadership
TKOFCD has undertaken research on traditional leadership of the Ga-Dangme Community leadership and a model and a proposal has been developed for a pilot project.
